Encounters with Materials exhibit - Dr. Sylvia Kind

Encounters with Materials: artful pedagogies, materialities, and co-compositions

Working with materials, composing, and re-composing with others, invites artful ways of moving, thinking, and experimenting together. Materials are active, lively, and participatory. They set things in motion, incite questions, produce ideas and propositions, and give shape to the unfolding events in particular ways. By situating ourselves in a co-responding relation with materials and in the emergences of evolving processes, attention is drawn to the life, vibrancy, flows, rhythms, and potentialities of the materials and what they do to us and instigate among us. Through collective experimentation, discussion, presentations, and experimenting with acts of documenting we will consider the generative interplay of artistries and materialities, and explore ways of joining in and being with children in processes of relational making.

This will be the first time the Encounters with Materials Exhibit will be viewed in Calgary. Join us in this 3 day immersive dialogue led by Dr. Sylvia Kind, atelierista from Capilano University, exploring the relationships with materials and artful pedagogies.
